The Sylvan Lake Dam Modification Project is crucial to ensure public safety and protect hundreds of Lake County homes from impending failure of a 100-year-old embankment dam. This long-awaited historic infrastructure improvement will protect 137 homes in the Indian Creek Club subdivision. The improvements at the Sylvan Lake Dam include relocation of the sanitary sewer along North Highland Drive and reconstruction of the Sylvan Lake Dam and appurtenances. Lake County Stormwater Management Commission, Lake County, Illinois in conjunction with the Illinois Emergency Management Agency, was awarded funding through the Federal Emergency Management Agency's (FEMA) Pre-Disaster Mitigation (PDM) Congressionally Directed Spending program to fund mitigation measures at this location to reduce the risk of loss of life and property from future hazard events or disasters.
